To Hug, Touch and Caress

By Robert Curtis Affection is a necessary thing for all people at all times and experiences in life. We find that we can measure our level of caring for one another through the amount if time and conscious effort we exhibit in the energy we spend making ourselves physically available to one another. After all, it is truly a natural thing in the makeup of human beings to not only need, but want to be close to those persons we love. Do you like hugging and being hugged? Do you not find that being hugged seems to breathe a newness of life into your stressed and tired body, making you feel more alert and alive? Simply hugging those we love strengthens and deepens our mutual relationships. This may be a bit new or foreign to your past behavior, but learn to express your feelings by hugging. I would recommend you give at least a few hugs a day to those closest to you. And you know, no one has ever died from having too many hugs in a day! Now, allow mw to interject a specific definition, here. Im not talking about a wild beast, bear claw, crushing sumo wrestler hug. Im referring to the tender, close, heart-stopping embrace motivated by love and caring and sincere affection. The closeness of an embrace that is held long enough to melt, and then just a moment longer. None of us are perfect. We do not have all the answers or suggestions for all of lifes continual challenges. But we all have that one something to give, give freely, and give often. And that is a hug. A close concept that boarders on the edge of hugging and further deepens our closest and most important relationships is the concept of touching. Touching is an example of true affection, and should be a spontaneous physical celebration of that affection and togetherness. We all receive the benefits of the learning process as we come together and express our physical needs, and reciprocate, as well, in a loving, caring, caressing way. Physical closeness, hugging and touching, are only a couple of ways of expressing ourselves. But it is a means of communication that is vital in creating and maintaining our most important relationships. Were you raised on the milk of tactile contact? Regardless of, or in spite of, our relationships we had as we grew and were nurtured into who we are today, we can change. We arent perfect, yet. If we have had bad, we can find good. If we have had good, we can make it even better. There is something to be said for being willing to be a bit touchy-feely in your relationships. And what protects us is our humanness. Our ability and desire as human beings to love others and accept the love that is so freely offered to us, as well. It is not our indifference that keeps us warm at night. It is our willing and inspiring tenderness that makes others want to be near us. To want to keep us warm. The simple hug, touch, and caress are more than an awesome experience. They have the potential to change your whole life. Bob Curtis has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and has been writing about the elements of relationships for a number of years. Enhance Your Beauty Through Skin and Hair Grooming With Aromatherapy

By Tim Gorman Every well-groomed woman who strives for glowing skin and beautiful hair, can appreciate the outstanding benefits of aromatherapy when they are aware of them. Essential oils are being incorporated into skin and hair care products today and those who use these types of products are benefiting in quite a few ways. Not only are they practicing first-class skin and hair care, but they’re also experiencing the considerable profit of aromatherapy skin and hair care uses. Do you know your skin and hair type? Knowing your skin and hair type is essential to realizing the best results from the treatment you give them. Essential oils, with their different therapeutic benefits, play a large part in the composition of aromatherapy. So it’s important to understand your skin and hair type when matching up your needs with the essential oils of aromatherapy that provide the suitable content mixtures required in your individual grooming. The annoyance of dry skin Among the complaints of many caring women is dry skin. This is a condition that need not be tolerated for long. Yet many women do, not realizing theres a simple answer to dry skin: moisturize it! How easy is it? Once more we turn to aromatherapy. Just add suitable carrier oil into an essential oil that youve determined to be appropriate for your skin type. Massage the product into the dry areas of your skin. Repeat this periodically for as long as its needed. Is your problem sensitive skin? Allergies? We know that many things grossly irritate susceptible skin or add to the misery of skin allergies. If either of these conditions afflicts you, be very cautious of the aromatherapy skin and hair care products you choose. If you have a bad reaction to a product, whether it’s store-bought or home-produced, terminate use. If you have never used any of these products and you’re unsure how you will react to an essential oil, check it on a tiny spot first for a few days and see what develops. Sometimes we might use an aromatherapy creation expecting it to clear up a particular condition, and get no results. Its just as if we had used nothing. The obvious conclusion is that the products are not effective for the particular individual. If needed, seek advice from a professional on the best methods to progress. Best use of aromatherapy contents for skin and hair care Average skin: rose, lavender, or chamomile essential oils usually work well for normal skin. Dry or sensitive skin: chamomile is beneficial. Skin predisposed to acne or eczema: also benefit from chamomile. Do you use a fragrance-free face mask? include a number of drops of your selection of oils directly into the mask and utilize as intended. If you prefer, include your selection to your bathtub water. Acne? Whether juvenile or adult acne, this is a condition we are anxious to eliminate. Its good to know that aromatherapy can help. Tee tree and cajeput oils are used to treat acne. Combine these vital oils with grapeseed, high-quality carrier oil. You will be able to blend some drops with rose water to produce a toner. Can we do anything to erase signs of aging using aromatherapy for skin care? Sandalwood oil is capable of taking away a number of discernible indications of aging for example wrinkles and dried out skin. Rose oils, frankincense, neroli and geranium oils are in addition useful in treating older skin. Palmarosa oils are customarily used together in skin and hair care items. These oils contain moisturizing and hydrating properties and they encourage skin cell renewal. Used neat or mixed with carrier oil, the essential oils named above can be worked into skin or added to bathtub water. In addition blending essential oils into carrier oils, you might also mix them into creams and lotions that contain lanolin provided that these goods are without fragrance. Then just softly rub into skin. As soon as youve experienced over contact to the suns rays, rub affected areas using lavender or chamomile oils mixed with carrier oil. An excellent last wash for hair is a combination of apple cider vinegar, lemon essential oil and clear water. In a bottle mix 2 teaspoons vinegar, 3 drops lemon oil and 4 teaspoons water. Then work this solution into your hair and wash well. The One That Got Away on the Green River

By Richard Chapo Fly fishing can be a surreal experience mending the soul of any person. That is, until you have to deal with the one that got away! The One That Got Away Ive battled the crowds, seen the masses of fish in the crystal clear water, and been skunked by the some of the most educated trout around on the Green River below the Flaming Gorge Dam. On a float trip last fall, I experienced the true meaning of The One That Got Away. This fight and escape was like no other that I have experienced in my 10 years of fly fishing. This fish was not just big, but the most aggressive and determined trout I have ever seen!! It was a picture perfect moment; I spot a large rising fish on the left side of the river about 50 down. We row into position. I make the perfect cast and my drift is right on target. Suddenly, the fish comes almost completely out of the water. Now you are probably thinking, big deal, what makes this the ultimate one that got away story? Its not the size of the fish or even the amount of time the fish was on, its all about the angler. Moments before my fly drifted over this fantastic fish, a dive-bombing Osprey snagged him out from under me nose, or more accurately, the nose of my fly! Maybe their eyesight is not quite as good as I thought, because this bird chewed off way more than he should have! It was a perfect snag, both talons sunk into the back of the fish. The bird was able to pull the fish almost completely out of the water with a few extremely labored flaps before he went down. Yep, the Osprey was completely dragged under by the heavy, powerful and extremely determined fish. Amazingly, the Osprey surfaced still clutching the fish and made another attempt to conquer the beast. Dragging the fish half submerged across 10 feet of river, the bird was once again almost completely submerged. Again the Osprey surfaces, well, almost surfaces. Only one wing comes out of the water and flaps frantically. One had to wonder who was having who lunch! Unbelievably, it started to look like the fish was going to roll the Osprey under it. Sure enough, the fish came over the top and was partially in the air while the Osprey was completely submerged under it! The trout made a vicious twisting movement and the Osprey apparently thought oxygen was a better meal. It let go of the trout. The soaking wet bird laboriously returned to a nearby perch for a well-deserved rest. We all stared at each other in complete shock. Now that is one hell of a One That Got Away story!! Vaccinations: The Not So Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

By Paula Rothstein It is chilling to watch today’s purported health experts stand up to parents of children suffering from neurological disorders, clearly triggered by vaccinations, as they inform them there is no reason to be concerned for the safety of their children. Regardless of the disturbing rise in neurological disorders such as autism, brain tumors, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), now believed to be a direct result of the use of the mercury based preservative, known as thimerosal used for nearly 20 years in many childhood vaccinations. I encourage you to seriously consider the idea that drugs are being introduced into society without adequate testing and we are, in fact, the industry’s guinea pigs. I do indeed question these so-called experts on the issue of vaccinations and I am deeply troubled by the government’s method of forcing immunizations on parents - these same vaccinations that have shown themselves to be unsafe time and again - by making it a necessity for acceptance into schools and daycare centers around the country. Of course, in most states there are religious and even philosophical exemptions in place and we can cling to these exemptions for as long as they persist. The experts would have you believe that our advancement against infectious disease relates to the use of vaccinations. However, there is much more compelling evidence that our advancement does not come from the introduction of vaccines but instead from improved public health resulting from cleaner water, more effective sewage disposal, and less crowded living conditions. There is also reason to believe that the diseases our children are vaccinated against persist, however, it is by great trickery we are led to believe that it is the unvaccinated who are contracting these diseases when it is often the vaccinated. Statistics are delicate and often misused. I look for motivation to bend the evidence when considering a statistic and if great profit is at the heart of a number and the number flies in the face of logic, I consider it to be a lie. The pharmaceutical drug companies have more motivation to lie than any other industry. Profit - and a lot of it - is at stake here. Vaccines have their place as an emergency medical treatment when epidemics rage out of control. However, it could be argued that epidemics rage today BECAUSE we have weakened the immune system by frequent inoculations containing a whole slew of toxic chemicals. Before I continue, I would like to point out that I am not entirely against immunizations, although I would argue against the use of so many immunizations and given at far too young an age - I am against the pharmaceutical drug companies reckless use of dangerous preservatives and blatant disregard for the hazard these materials may pose to the health of small children. I do not trust these profit-mongering companies and will not fall victim to their careless shortcomings by participating in their vaccination programs. Vaccines are not always safe nor effective and I would like to provide you with a few key examples: The Lancet reported in 1980 that a vaccine trial in India, involving approximately 260,000 people discovered that more cases of tuberculosis had occurred in people vaccinated against TB than among the unvaccinated. The Journal of the American Medical Association published an article on measles in 1990 revealing that although more than 95% of school-aged children in the U.S. are vaccinated against measles, large measles outbreaks continue to occur in schools with the most cases in this setting to occur among previously vaccinated children. In a 1994 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine it was reported that at least 80% of children under the age of five who came down with whooping cough had been vaccinated against whooping cough. Between the years of 1990 to 1993 the FDA counted 54,072 adverse reactions to vaccinations. The agency also admitted this total represented only about 10% of actual adverse reactions because most physicians were reluctant to report the problems. Many vaccination programs are being implemented without thorough testing of safety, particularly with regards to the manner in which vaccines can alter the immune system and central nervous system. The best example of the carelessness of an industry run amok is the use of thimerosal as a preservative in vaccines for more than 15 years, now believed to be responsible for the tremendous increase in cases of autism and ADHD. If you would like to learn more, I encourage you to read the article Deadly Immunity by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. revealing the government’s cover-up of the mercury link to autism, a mistake that cost numerous children their health. Dr. Paula Baille-Hamilton, the British toxins and vaccines expert, had the following to say on the issue of vaccines: “Few people realize that when they are getting a vaccine, not only are they getting a dose of the named antigen or disease, they’re getting vaccinated against, such as diptheria, but also a mixture of known toxic, brain-damaging, and cancer-promoting chemicals thrown in as preservatives and “adjuvants,” which help to elict an early, high, and long-lasting immune response. “Ever since mass vaccinations of infants began in the twentieth century, reports of serious brain, cardiovascular, metabolic, and other injuries started filling pages of medical journals. Reports from several countries show that vaccinated children, in addition to having a lower IQ, also have a higher incidence of behavioral problems, asthma, and diabetes than unvaccinated children.” Even the former chief vaccine control officer for the FDA, J. Anthony Morris, stated in response to the reports of problems associated with vaccines, “There is a great deal of evidence to prove that immunization of children does more harm than good.” The procedure of inoculation is rarely questioned and should be. When one is introduced to a virus or bacteria, it enters through the nose or mouth, triggering a natural immune response. The process of vaccination bypasses the first line of defense and is instead directly introduced into the bloodstream. Vaccines injected into babies do not in any way resemble an inhaled or swallowed germ because they are changed, attenuated, and injected as multi-antigens into the body. As a result, by-passing of the Th1 branch of the immune system can cause over-stimulation of the Th2 branch, teaching the body to be in a chronically reactive mode. Individuals who have allergies, asthma and auto-immune disease have a Th2-skewed immune system. Highly toxic substances such as mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, MSG, sulfites, and ethylene glycol (antifreeze) along with various animal and bird products are commonly used in the manufacturing of vaccines. The use of tissue from other species will always carry a risk of contamination. Even in the 1950s, the use of monkey kidney cells in the polio vaccine were found to be contaminated by a cancer-causing monkey virus known as SV40. Each one of these additives has been linked to disorders ranging from brain and nerve damage to autism and ADHD. These additives challenge immature immune systems and young metabolisms to process synthetic chemicals. Ultimately, the toxins are carried off by the liver to accumulate in organs and tissues. I do strongly advise against the Hepatitis B shot given within the first 48 hours after birth unless, of course, the mother has the disease. The central nervous system of a newborn infant is particularly sensitive to toxic influences. There are cases of autism believed to be triggered by this one shot. There are also cases of death believed to be related to this one shot. If it were given later in life, after the immune system has matured, it would not be as much of a problem. However, why would this vaccine be given to anyone not at risk? Hepatitis B is a rare, blood-transmitted disease. The incidence of hepatitis B in the 0 to 1 age group has been observed to be just 0.001 percent. Known complications arising from this one shot far exceed the number at risk! If you feel you must go along with all shots recommended by your physician, I encourage you to at least postpone the time of vaccination and do not allow your newborn to receive this potentially life-threatening shot. My sister recently gave birth three weeks prematurely to a five pound baby girl. The hospital was fully prepared to give this premature baby the Hepatitis B shot! Fortunately, I had already advised my sister against this vaccination months in advance. My point is that you should not expect the medical profession to make thoughtful decisions on these matters. For the most part, they are doing the bidding of pharmaceutical drug companies who are not overly concerned with our well-being. The most important thing you can do for your health is to improve your immune system so that it will remain strong against attack by an infectious organism. To that end there is a powerful product capable of providing the body with exceptional support against viruses and bacteria, manufactured by 4Life Company, called Transfer Factor. In fact, 4Life Transfer Factor products are featured in the 2003, 2004, and 2005 Physicians’ Desk Reference For Nonprescription Drugs and Dietary Supplements, the standard supplement guide for physicians that can be found in physician offices, hospitals, and pharmacies throughout the United States. Transfer Factor implements a sophisticated system of teaching the immune system to recognize and destroy infectious organisms. It makes one wonder why we use vaccinations when there is a natural product capable of providing exceptional support to the immune system. I suppose it is because people like to believe a one-time shot will take care of a life-time of vigilance. However, as more and more vaccines continue to be introduced to address numerous possible infections it becomes increasingly important to find a way to enhance the immune system rather than imagine we can keep up with the ever increasing number of potential diseases. If you are a parent who has done the bidding thus far of western medicine, without question taking your child to his or her wellness visits assuming vaccinations are not only safe but necessary, I would like you to know you have a choice and one that should be informed. 10 Pounds to Lose and What to Do?

By Dave Poon Got 10 pounds to lose? Dont torture yourself by not eating and taking weight reducing drugs that may not be beneficial to you in the long run. You may be dying to lose unwanted fat in your body but you dont have to do it in an instant. Have patience and gradually and diligently work on your aim. Soon youll realize those 10 pounds you ought to lose will just be a part of history. So you have 10 pounds to lose? Check out these simple yet effective ways to lose ten pounds gradually and safely: Exercise The best way you can do to get rid of those ten pounds is to exercise. The reason why you get fat and gain weight is that the calories (energy) your body has gotten from the food that you eat are more than what your body needs or what you utilize. The excess calories not burned up are then stored in form of fat. The stored fat becomes your alternative source of energy when what you eat is not enough to provide for your energy requirements. However, when you consistently take in more calories, the tendency of your body is to store more excess calories in form of fat. The unconsumed fat is the one that makes gain weight. Exercising would help you burn those stored calories and thus prevent weight gain. As you increase your physical activities, more and more energies are consumed so calories that you take in dont accumulate in your system as fats. However, bear in mind that exercising is essential to good health and should not only be done if youve got 10 pounds to lose. Make it a habit in order for you to maintain your good health even as you grow older. Eat the Right Food and the Right Amount of Food Eating the right kind of food, that is, low-calorie food and the right amount of food is very important if you are serious about losing weight. The principle here is that you have to take in only the right amount of calorie you shall be consuming as all the excess will just be stored as fat. Also, drink lots of water. Sleep Early and Get up early Most people do not realize they have already gained so much weight within certain period of time. This is because gaining weight can be a long and sluggish process. Everyday, you gain a pound or two without noticing it. Then suddenly when you check your weight you realize you already got 10 pounds added to your weight, which means you got 10 pounds to lose as well. For most busy people, exercising may not be a good idea as it may take much of their time. Sleeping early and waking up early in the morning can be one of your alternatives. Getting up early means doing more things earlier. Since you do not eat much or you probably eat much healthier food in the morning, you are more likely to burn calories (as you move around the house, prepare your breakfast and your things) from fat that have already been there in your system. Moreover, if your reason for not exercising is your lack of time, getting up early would give you time for exercise, even just the basics such as brisk walking for a few minutes. Me Tarzan! You Jane!

By Vlady Peters Once upon a time a caveman, while out for a walk, came a across a young woman. Struck by her beauty he immediately tried to get her attention by violently thumping his chest, his good imitation of Tarzans victory cry reverberating through the length and breadth of the forest. His mother, seeing that he was receiving no reaction, said in disgust, Oh, Billy, when it comes to women you have no idea. Instead of all that thumping and roaring, why dont you give the girl what she really wants? Being a bright lad, he knew exactly what she meant. Quick as a wink he placed a ring of heavy rope around her ankle and took her home to his cave. No woman could resist such a pledge of love. Not then. Not ever. Having learned their lesson, men have been placing all sorts of rings on womens fingers ever since. For the less demanding there were grass rings and flower rings and string rings and ribbon rings. The more ostentatious ladies liked a bit of metal, and even more, a good-sized rock to go with it. Seeing it sparkling on their finger like a star in the sky, they would throw their arms around the lad crying, Oh, Jimmy, I do love you so. Ill never love anyone else but you. The trusting fool believed it, of course, little realizing that as soon as she was shown a bigger carat, shed be off, possibly even carrying his paltry offering with her. What fun the girls used to derive from trying the ring now on this finger, now on that. Some thought it looked best on their thumb, others preferred to have it on their tallest digit, and others still chose a finger according to the needs of the occasion. When attending the opera, for example, an index finger was great for showing off that rock as you pointed it in this or that direction. Visiting a spinster aunt or as the politically correct phrase in Australia has it, the never validly married lady - it seemed more charitable to place it on a less conspicuous finger, the out of the way small finger. But whatever the finger, the girl always placed the ring on the right hand, the dominant hand. This was the hand that cooked and sewed and rocked the cradle and spanked bottoms of future kings and queens. Somehow that ring gave a girl a sense of power which began to alarm her young man. She might be the queen of his heart in the privacy of her boudoir, but in the world he must always be king. Taking his lady aside, he began whispering sweet nothings into her ear, which included lets switch that ring from the right hand to the left. But it is the right hand which is the dominant one, my love. Well, you see my dearest, ahem, ahem, he could hardly tell her that if there was any dominating to be done, he wanted to be the one doing it, the heart is on the same side as the left hand. So? Why, dont you see, my sweetness, theres a vein that runs right from the heart to the left-hand finger. I didnt know you knew anything about anatomy? When youre a man, he says modestly, theres very little that you dont know. Now about that ring. But which finger, exactly, is this vein attached to? Which finger can you move least? The finger right next to my little finger, of course. Thats the one! Vlady Peters is an Australian Civil Marriage Celebrant authorised to perform marriages in Australia. The Lesson of the Purple Bags

By Donovan Baldwin For several years, I was a purchasing agent for an office of the federal government. Yep, it was me spent your tax dollars, and not always wisely, but that’s another article. Vendors, and those who wanted to be, often sent us samples of their products in the hopes of convincing us that their products were really what the U.S. government couldn’t live without. One day, a package arrived from a company which purported to specialize in the handling of hazardous waste. The specific samples they sent us were plastic bags designed for the disposal of various hazardous and toxic wastes. These bags were in different bright colors in order to make it obvious that they were different from standard garbage bags, and the colors were keyed to the level of hazard and types of materials that the bags were intended for. The bags were also imprinted with large, easily readable lettering which said what the type of hazardous material the bag was intended to hold. Now, getting a government contract, or at least the attention of a purchasing agent could be pretty lucrative for a vendor. We’re talking about a chance to get regular orders from the federal government, in large quantities. So, you want to do everything possible to put your best foot forward, right? The package was neat, the accompanying literature was well put together, and the bags were impressive. They probably spent a lot of money sending packages like this to several purchasing offices in hopes of getting some orders. As luck would have it, we didn’t need to dispose of any hazardous waste at that moment, at least none that we could use the bags for. However, one of the purchasing agents was in the middle of a project, so he figured he would use one of the bags for his excess trash. You know how you take a garbage bag and fluff it out so it fills with air before you put it in the can? Jim, one of the agents, did that and the bag (intended to hold hazardous waste) split in two. I don’t remember what sort of waste it was intended to hold, but I DO remember it was something very dangerous, and the bag was a vibrant purple. Jim grabbed another, and it did the same thing. We all started grabbing bags, and over half of the samples split before we could even think of putting anything in them! Can you imagine us EVER buying ANYTHING from these yahoos? It wasn’t bad enough that they were attempting to sell an inferior product, but they had the pure lack of common sense to send us samples of their inferior product in hopes of inducing us to buy from them! Now, does that make sense? Yet, several times a month, sometimes several times a week, I encounter someone who “wants to get rich on the internet” trying to sell a product or service that is evidently inferior in quality. Oh sure, we sometimes don’t NEED to buy top of the line items, and can save a few cents that way, but attempting to sell that way is going to limit us to the customers who buy that way. Most, however, want quality. Always offer your customers quality. It will pay off for you in the long run. Don’t be in a hurry to shove your product in front of your customers. Taking a few minutes to verify that everything is in order and that you are making an offer that you can be proud of will repay you. Your product, literature, or web page will tell your customer a lot about the sort of service and quality of goods that they can expect to get from you. Always make it your best shot. I’m not talking about the most expensive, either. One of the most effective marketers I ever knew was an office supply salesman in Austin, Texas. He had no fancy cards, no great sales pitch, no copious pile of literature. He just provided great service and refused to sell anything to us that didn’t meet HIS standards first. He was even willing to help us find goods and services outside of his normal field. Even though he was an employee of the company, he took a proprietary interest in insuring that every piece of equipment and every supply item, from the most sophisticated and expensive office machines, down to the lowliest pencil or paper clip, was exactly what we needed and that it performed exactly as advertised. Guess who got a lot more of our business than the company with the purple bags? The author is retired from the Army after 21 years of service.
